Free (or almost) Local Summer Activities in Western Mass

It’s official, schools out for summer!  Staying busy is the best way to keep everyone happy, but it can get expensive.  Here are some of my free (or really cheap) summer favorites.  These are always in the rotation to add some excitement to our summer for a low cost.

Kids bowl free - Bowling is the perfect activity for rainy days or days that are just too hot.  And it’s something different.  Sign your kids up for free bowling all summer long!  https://www.kidsbowlfree.com/

Tykes Tuesdays At Holyoke Mall - These weekly activities bring local educational experiences to the Holyoke Mall for Western Mass families.  There are events each week featuring Forest Park Zoo, CT Science Center, Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory, The New England Aquarium and more.  https://www.holyokemall.com/event/tykes-tuesday/

Visit Your Local Library - Our local library has events for all ages, story time, crafts, zoo to you, magic shows.  Many local libraries offer fun events through the summer - check out your local library website.

Touch-A-Truck Events - If your child is into trucks like my son is, touch a truck events are the best!! Kids can climb in most trucks, beep the horn, some also have face painting, ice cream and other fun treats.  Big Rig/Touch-A-Truck days through local recreation departments - South Hadley, Ma and Easthampton, Ma

Touch-A-Truck Food Drive - August 13th - Agawam, Ma

Summer Concert Series - These events feature a lineup of live entertainment weekly.  For a fun time outdoors, have a picnic or dance some wiggles out.

Summer Movie Clubhouse - Almost free movies each Wednesday morning!   They also have deals on treats like popcorn.  There is no cheaper way to see a movie at the theater.  Another good option when you need a break from the rain or summer heat.  - Wednesday’s 1.50 Summer Movie Clubhouse

Western Mass also has many fun local parks, splash pads, hiking trails and farmers markets.  Get outside, explore and have a fun summer!
