Best family photography locations in Western Mass - Western Mass Family Photographer

I love location scouting!  I bring my family along to check out a field I saw while driving, a gorgeous park I heard about or to walk a local trail.  The locations I choose are my photography studio and create a natural backdrop to highlight your family.  I try to look for variety in locations, while also supplying classic elements that are part of my style.  Below are the types of locations you can choose from.  

Park trail (pictured above)

Great for little ones who may need to be corralled, this walking path has gorgeous sunlight, natural elements to explore and a bench spot for seated images.  

Bonus*  I love an option for waterfront photos and with a bit of a walk you can have a beachy vibe by the mountain.  (Recent rainfall dependent)

Mountain top (pictured above)

Ooooo when I discovered this spot I was overwhelmed with happiness.  Gorgeous views, tall grass and epic sunsets.  Parking can be an issue, but it’s just a short, uphill, walk to the summit. 

Field (pictured below)

This location has a field of tall grass seasonally.  At sunset the sun lights the brush in a gorgeous golden glow.  Walking paths, tall pine trees, and views of the mountain also decorate this spot.  

Reservoir (pictured Below)

The reservoir is a beautiful location for pictures by the water, but it is a decent walk from the parking lot and usually has many other visitors.  It’s worth it if you’re after a woodsy waterfront look or if the reservoir is one of your favorite spots. 

Garden vibes (pictured below)

With beautifully maintained grounds and flowers/foliage seasonally this spot is classic.  Just a short walk to beautiful gardens, older brick buildings and benches provide a varied setting for your images.  Easy parking.  

Sunset lookout (new)

Spectacular sunset view with river and mountain backdrop.  Best for a petite maternity session as this location doesn’t offer any other areas to photograph.  Super easy, no fuss location, parking right there.  Can be busy.

Your home/yard 

Have your family photography session in the comfort of your own home and/or yard.  Excellent for those with children under one and my favorite spot for newborn sessions.  Anything you would need is easily accessible, zero packing or traveling for the family and it’s a meaningful location close to your heart.  Parking is definitely the best, and zero crowds!
